WATCH Participant. Brian received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Indiana University in 2000 and his Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Midwestern University two years later. He has been working in pediatrics for the last three years. Brian has experience treating a wide variety of genetic, orthopedic, and neurological diagnoses, including muscular dystrophy, hydrocephalus, toe-walking, cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, and torticollis. Brian has also had special training in pediatric orthopedics, neurodevelopmental treatment, pediatric aquatics, and orthotic prescription and fabrication. WATCH Participant. Cheryl graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders and a Minor in Sociology. She then went to East Carolina University to obtain her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Cheryl has worked almost exclusively in pediatrics in a variety of settings including home health, schools, preschools, daycares, inpatient hospital, and outpatient clinics. She began working at Pediatric Therapy Associates in June 2004. Cheryl has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of children with a variety of diagnoses including autism, apraxia of speech, Down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, developmental delay, specific language impairment, articulation/phonology disorders, cleft lip and palate, fluency disorders, and feeding/swallowing disorders. WATCH Participant. Cindy received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Mercy College in New York in 2000. She has worked for Pediatric Therapy Associates since 2003. Previously Cindy worked for the Wilson County School System as well as in a couple of rehabilitation practices, one of which was based in the child?s natural environment. She treated patients with a variety of diagnoses, including orthopedic issues and neurological, psychological and/or behavioral disorders. Her work at PTA has been similarly extensive, and is heavily based in sensory integration dysfunction. Cindy's continuing education experiences have been equally extensive, as she is a Balametrics Practitioner, an Infant, Toddler and Family Specialist, and is certified in Therapeutic Listening. Other continuing education experiences cover everything from weight training and Crisis Intervention Training, to the Handwriting Without Tears program. Cindy's parrot Sysco and aquarium with various aquatic life also join her during therapy sessions.

WATCH Participant. Diana received her master of science in physical therapy from Springfield College in 2001. Since that time, she has worked exclusively in the area of pediatrics. She worked in New York State for the early intervention program, preschools, and public school districts before relocating to Raleigh. Diana has evaluated and treated children of all ages, including infants in the NICU. She has had extensive experience working with children with developmental disabilities, motor and coordination disorders, and cerebral palsy, as well as a strong background in wheelchair seating and positioning. Diana is also Infant Toddler and Family Specialist Credentialed. Diane's areas of interest and expertise include: caring for the birth-three population; NDT approach; children with neuological impairments such as CP, hypotonia, and Spina Bifida; emphasis on treating the whole child and helping families find the resources they need so their child can grow and thrive.

WATCH Participant. Beth has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist since graduating with her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University (Boston School of Occupational Therapy) in December 2001. She has worked in both school and outpatient rehabilitation settings with children of all ages and various diagnoses including cerebral palsy, Klinefelter syndrome, Down syndrome, mitochondrial disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, learning disabilities, and developmental delays. Beth has clinical expertise in the evaluation and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders and sensory integration dysfunction. Beth practiced in and around Boston, MA prior to moving to NC last year. After taking a year off to be home with her two young children, Beth joined the PTA team in October 2006.

WATCH Participant. Elizabeth has been practicing physical therapy since receiving her degree in the field from Daemen College in 1989. Her experience is almost solely in pediatrics and encompasses many settings including home, outpatient offices, and preschools. Elizabeth works closely with physicians and orthotists in developing and following through with the use and fabrication of casts and wheelchairs. She has experience in the evaluation and treatment of children with diagnoses such as cerebral palsy and congenital myopathy. Liz has attended continuing education courses on topics including pediatric myofascial release and lower extremity orthotics.
